The link checker records every link it finds but never removes one that has since been edited out of a post. Once a URL has been seen, it stays in the broken-links report permanently, so tidying up your content does not clear the report — which is exactly when you would expect it to.

Found while cleaning up 137 reported broken links, of which almost all had already been fixed.
