Tag Manager

Clean up your tags without opening them one at a time

Invision Community's built-in tag management makes you open each tag and delete it on its own. If you came from an open-tag system before v5, you can be left with hundreds of pages of tags that no longer make sense — and no realistic way to prune them. Tag Manager turns that into a few clicks.

One screen, every tag, sorted by how much it's actually used

  • Usage at a glance. Every tag listed with how many times it's used and how many items carry it.
  • Sort by usage — most-used or least-used first — or alphabetically. Bring the junk to the top.
  • "Used once only" filter to isolate the single-use tags that rarely belong in a community.
  • Search to jump straight to a tag or a family of tags.

Act in bulk

  • Tick the ones you want — or select the whole page — and delete them all at once. Every use is removed cleanly across your content, the tag directory and the search index.
  • Merge several tags into one. Duplicates and case variants (javascript, JavaScript, JS) become a single tag, with each item de-duplicated automatically.
  • Rename a tag everywhere it appears, in one step.

Safe by design

Tag Manager works directly against Invision Community's own tag storage, so deletes, merges and renames stay consistent everywhere a tag shows up — on content, on the tag pages, and in search. It lives entirely in the AdminCP under Community → Tag Manager, and access is controlled by a standard administrator restriction.

Requirements

  • Invision Community 5
  • No other applications required — it works with the tags you already have.

Built in response to a real request from the Invision Community: the tag cleanup the platform should have shipped with.
